Cysts are soft to firm swellings under the skin. They contain a discharge which can stretch the cyst wall. This can rupture and cause infection under the skin.
Should all cysts be treated?
If the cyst is small and not causing any problems, you may choose not to have it removed.
Some cysts are not only unsightly but can also get very inflamed and result in scarring. Cysts can be excised, or be injected with steroids or removed using a specialised laser technique with very low risk of scarring.
